“ Was in Chicago for a work trip and wanted to try really good Italian food. Fresh pasta- delicious! My colleague recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Make reservations because seats are limited however, you can sit at the bar and order food as well which is what we did. Service 5/5 Interior 4/5- Giving it 4 stars because it is too dimly lit for my liking. Food 5/5 They make the pasta fresh and if you sit at the bar, you can see the chefs making it from scratch. The sauce and meat in the ravioli tasted so fresh and good. Just the right amount! Dessert 5/5 ”
“ Finally got to try the restaurant after several attenpts at reservations for dinner, and it did not dissappoint. As soon as we walked in, the restaurant servers made us feel right at home, even though the place was packed at 9PM on a week night. As others have mentioned the burrata e ham was the best thing out of the items my party tried, with the wagyu skewer also being a strong dish. I heavily regret not ordering more of the burrata e ham, but will try to go back again soon! ”
“ I've been wanting to try this place for. While now and so glad I was invited to go to lunch here today! Top Chef restaurant? James Beard? Yep count me in! First of all, we came in for lunch at 11:15 and the place was packed like a Saturday Night. Not kidding. Every table was filled nonstop today starting at 11 this morning. If you get a reservation, go! Dishes are all shareable, family style. Nice portions. There are "stuzzi" appetizers to start and share. Then there are three areas in the menu to pick your shared plates. Top portion is a mix of dishes, middle not your typical pasta dishes, third, known pasta type dishes. At the very bottom of the menu are HUGE portions for shareables for larger parties. Every dish was amazing. Please see photos. Get the meatballs. Get the Gnocchietti pasta! The tiramisu is massive! Get that too! I would come back! ”
“ The service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the food and drinks, and the atmosphere was buzzing and great as well. Definitely recommend this place without hesitation. ”
“ Burrata E Ham - rosemary tigelle, prosciutto di san daniele, pineapple kiwi mango mostarda, proscuitto butter Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta - raspberry sorbet, lemon marmellata, fresh raspberry, toasted pistachio, pizzelle cookie Egg Yolk Raviolo - prosciutto & ricotta filled, trumpet mushroom, sage, balsamico PBT! - seeded rye toast, radish, prosciutto butter, lemon marmellata, dill We started with the signature Burrata ham then had the restaurant week menu. Every element of Burrata ham was very good, especially the pineapple kiwi mango mostarda which added an incredible depth of flavor. Prosciutto butter toast was well balanced between the salty creamy prosciutto butter and crunchy fresh radishes. Egg yolk raviolo had good rich flavor but too oily. Vanilla bean Panna Cotta was refreshing and also had good contracting elements like PBT. Good service. Dinner service starts at 4:30pm so if you don't mind an early dinner, that's how we got in quickly without a reservation. ”
“ Monteverde has been on my bookmarked list for ages, so I was over the moon to snag a last-minute spot during restaurant week! Featured in numerous food guides, Monteverde is known to be among the top restaurants in the city, so reservations during primetime are a hot commodity. I recommend planning on reserving about a month in advance or checking in periodically day-of/before on Resy for last minute cancellations. Anyway, I arrived right at the beginning of dinner hour and it was already packed! Catchy 70s music, upscale yet homey decor, and a lively atmosphere made for a spot where anyone would feel welcome. I opted for the 4-course pre-fix and the server kindly walked me through the menu. From the get-go and throughout the evening, the staff was among the best I have ever encountered. They were extremely attentive, kind, and perfectly paced the meal, creating a memorable experience. For the appetizer, I ordered the arancino, which was exceptionally crispy and paired well with the flavorful aioli. I did feel that the rice and filling alone were a tad under-seasoned. The Oma's mountain salad followed, featuring a generous portion of fresh, high-quality produce. While the delicate dressing was refreshing, some of the veggies were left a bit on the bland side. For the main event, I opted for the spaghetti al pomodoro, and was so impressed by the perfectly cooked handmade pasta and fresh, high quality roasted tomatoes! The sauce had a great depth of flavor, but I did feel that there was a little something missing. The meal was rounded out by the vanilla bean panna cotta, which was absolutely stellar and a must-order! The panna cotta itself was barely sweet- the creamy raspberry sorbet, zesty lemon, and crunchy pistachios came together for a refreshing cap to the meal. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and brought an additional delicious meringue-topped dark chocolate sorbet to recognize a special occasion. Overall, the quality of ingredients and care put into the dishes is apparent and exceptional. I will definitely return to try other menu items! ”
“ Fabulous dining experience from beginning to end. Big open dining room and open kitchen, and it's fun to watch detailed pasta being made from the mirror above the bar. Our server Brett was super friendly and helpful, and service from the staff is well orchestrated. Non alcoholic cocktails were refreshing and creative. Mozzarella shooters with tomato dashi were fun, and arancino fritters made for great staters. Omas Green Mountain Salad was super fresh, crispy, and delicately dressed. Grilled chicken was ranked the best chicken dish out of numerous top Chicago restaurants the last couple weeks. Spaghetti was perfectly al dente, with delicious roasted tomato sauce and plenty of olive oil was simple, yet perfect. Both dark chocolate sorbet and vanilla bean panna cotta raspberry sorbet were heavenly. It's worth booking a reservation here, even if only available weeks in advance. ”
“ Restaurant week! Okay so their restaurant week is crazy because it's a good deal, they're the hardest reservation in the city, and the food is some of the best in the country. To start I had a sunchoke and artichoke crostini. Every square milliliter of this piece of toast was packed with rosemary, cheese, and the 'chokes. It was seasoned perfectly and the chokes were crispy . Making it a perfect couple bites. For the main I had the Spaghetti Al Pomordoro. I have been here a few times but opted not to get something so basic. However, that is where you would be mistaken. Red sauce is having a moment and Monteverde is reaching that moment. The pomordoro is made with the absolute brightest tomatoes I've ever tasted. It's well balanced with the perfect amount of basil. The pasta itself is the true star which is hand made in plain view of all the guests. It has a perfect chew and thickness that does not fail to keep you satisfied... while undoubtably becoming craving forming. Okay so finally for dessert I had the forbidden cookie. This was a cute meringue cookies with peoppermint on top and a brownie like base. Very crumbly. A good way to cap off the meal. Okay I lied, actually finally i got a tiramisu. The $20 tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts in the city of Chicago. It is glorious and the marscapone that they use is otherworldly. I usually say "come to monteverde for the pasta" which is true... but their tiramisu is truly the best ever. I haven't had anything similar. I can go on, but do not skip it. All in all service here is chill but attentive. The waitstaff isn't trying to be cool, they just are. They make the meal here pleasant without the place feeling stuff and unapproachable. One last thing. This was the lunch restaurant week menu and I was eating for one. The dishes were good size for one person but would be too little food for more than one. ”
“ Probably 4.5 I've been twice and was well pleased each time. The most recent visit was for work and our service was exceptionally good. We ordered a few apps and a few pastas - the stand out was a shaved celery salad with truffles. It sounded interesting but the reality was - showstopper!! The burrata app is also a winner, as is the tortellini in brodo. I didn't love their version of cacio é pepe (my most favorite thing) - the lemon flavor was not for me. I had the great pleasure of interacting with Chef Sarah at an event a few years back and she is absolutely lovely. Definitely try to get a reservation!! ”
